Customer Reviews:
3 out of 5 stars Not very thorough   July 1, 2010
Robert Thale
This book assumes that you've already learned all of this material in school, which is rare unless you have been through law school in addition to your accounting education. Each study section (module) ends with a short exam; however, about 30% of the questions test information that is not found in the study sections. Fortunately, the authors mention some of the missing information in the answer explanations.

Also, many of the references to legislation imply that the text has not been updated for several years. For example, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 is mentioned as if it is still pending. Be careful if this is your only study aid for the CPA exam.

Because of the omitted study material, the best strategy with this book is to skip the section exams and simply read all of the answers for the missing information. Then, try the full practice exam at the end of the book for a more accurate measure of your knowledge.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference   March 24, 2010
A New Tech
I just got my REG score and I passed with a respectable margin on my first try. This book was instrumental. It covers all of the major topics concisely. The questions cover the obscure and common details you will probably be asked about. About the only criticism I have is that the sims were not demanding enough to drill the material into you. While the book was more than enough to easily pass, I left the exam feeling less than confident. The Wiley 2010 REG sims weren't realistic enough to really stress you out on what to expect when dealing with various interrelated situations. This was the source of my confidence issue when leaving the exam site. Fortunately, my worry was unnecessary.

3 out of 5 stars Need better formating of materials   March 24, 2010

Not very well formated as will other Willey CPA exam review books which make you loose concentration on major items.
Need to be reviewed again to check accuracy of bullets numbering and sequence
