3 out of 5 stars Positives and Negatives   July 19, 2010
Cal
I have enjoyed Safe Money for about seven years, but will allow my subscription to run out. For those thinking about subcribing, a few positive and a few negatives: Positive 1. This newsletter has pointed out some vehicles I would not have otherwise thought about. 2. It has helped me preserve principle in that it emphasizes investing most of your money in a short-term treasury money market fund. 3, It has been an inspiration to read re-prints of what Martin's father had advised especially during a time that I had just lost my father. 4. This is one of the few newsletters that do not get paid by companies to advertise their stock, unbiased reporting at its best.Negatives: 1. While I kept most of my money in the treasury, I missed opportunity for my money to grow in more aggressive vehicles 2. He is not a buy and hold investor. As a very small investor, had I taken his advice to sell certain vehicles (only later to buy the vehicle again) I would have lost more because of the commissions. This is not for the small-investor. This is for the investor with at least $100,000 . 3. This is for the investor with the patience to evaluate his holdings each month (and to heed also special e-mailings). Too busy to follow the advice in a timely manner, then this is not for you. 4. He also advises investng in funds that short the market; too speculative for me. Make your own decision. If interested, contact the company directly and ask for a trial subscription,, see if he still has a 1-yr guarantee on his subscription.

1 out of 5 stars Don't do it   July 16, 2009

Safe your money. You will be flooded with solicitation letters if you subscribe. I found the "investment advice" very general and unhelpful. You would be better served buying a dinner at a good restaurant.

A fascinating opinion of some of Weiss's investing advice can be had by searching the web for the Security Exchange Commission's File No. 3-12341. It makes highly cautionary statements about some of the hype. On the other hand, I have appreciated his contrarian warnings for a few years.

4 out of 5 stars Fascinating how people's opinions vary   March 23, 2008

The reviews pre 2006 are very negative. Poor Martin Weiss was too early in his calls. But watch, in 2008 and beyond Martin Weiss will be described as uncannily accurate. The Dow has gone nowhere in 5 years while the Fed has pumped enormous amounts of money into the system and oil has gone over $100 and wheat is skyrocketing. People have a vague sense that something's wrong, but nothing has gotten to the Zimbabwe level yet. By the way, the Zimbabwe stock market had the biggest increase of any stock market in the world in 2007 - as measured in Zimbabwe dollars. Unfortunately for them, 4.1 million of their citizens are in dire need of food assistance. What, their stock investment profits weren't enough to pay for food? Imagine that. Martin Weiss sees a catastrophe in the U.S. until the debts are written off. It's going to be awhile until this is rectified, and Martin Weiss is more prescient than most.

5 out of 5 stars Safe Money Report an Outstanding Value   November 19, 2007

I have been a subscriber of this magazine for many years and have greatly profited from Mr. Weiss's insights. I have found his view of the global economy enlightening. His newsletters are full of realistic recommendations, that I have followed. Some have not panned out but most do. I have made more money following advice in Mr. Weiss's $99 per year newsletter than I have from following the advice of much more expensive investment advisors.
